A Short Excerpt from the Mariazell House Chronicle In 1673, under Andreas Fladl, the house was a linen weaving workshop. In 1700, Jakob Fladl, a linen weaver and host, received permission for the first time to rent rooms to pilgrims – marking the start of its history as a lodging house. In 1845, the innkeepers of the "Green Wreath," Franz and Rosalia Schön, touched their house Madonna to the miraculous statue, which still stands in the same place at the reception today. In 1900, Jakob and Johanna Sorger purchased the inn. In 1940, the innkeepers were Rudolf and Berta Ortenburger; Rudolf passed away in 1964. In 1968, Berta Ortenburger expanded the building in several stages, converting it into a hotel. In 2002, the Böhm family purchased the hotel and lovingly renovated it to modern standards.
