Conceria Castello has been making vegetable-tanned leather in Santa Croce sull'Arno, the Tuscan tannery district, since 1962. Three generations of the Rossi family. Specialized in vegetable-tanned full-grain shoulder and double-shoulder for small-batch leather goods — bags, wallets, belts, equestrian, bookbinding.

The pit-tanning cycle runs 4 weeks for shoulder, 6 weeks for sole-grade. Hides come from EU-traceable bovine sources (Italy, France, Germany) — never trans-Atlantic. Tannins are oak-bark and chestnut-extract; the workshop has been chrome-free since 2003.
