A legendary English pub, live music, great drinks and the heart of Kitzbühel’s nightlife since 1976. The Londoner Kitzbühel ABOUT MENU STAFF ABOUT MENU STAFF KITZBÜHEL'S GREAT ENGLISH PUB WHERE LOCALS & LEGENDS MEET EXPLORE THE RICH HISTORY OF THE LONDONER Where legends drink, dance, laugh & sometimes wake up with a story they can’t quite explain… Born from the London music scene - raised in the Alps. (1976) The Londoner began not as a business idea, but as a necessity. Rik Gunnell, a true mover and shaker of London’s explosive 60s music scene, had spent years managing iconic acts from Rod Stewart to countless others, and famously turned down the chance to manage the Rolling Stones. When Rik moved to Austria with his wife Edith, they quickly realised something essential was missing: a proper pub to drink in. So in 1976, in Im Gries, they opened The Londoner Kitzbühel — and unknowingly sparked a nightlife legend. Bigger crowds, bigger stories. (1980) The Londoner took off fast. So fast, in fact, that by 1980 it needed a bigger home. The pub moved to its current location in the heart of Kitzbühel, a move that would cement its status as the place to be in the Alps. A global reputation & a thousand hangovers. (1980–2000) Throughout the 80s and 90s, The Londoner gained international fame. Ask anyone in Kitzbühel, they either have a story about The Londoner, or a hangover they’re still recovering from. Ski racing champions (Klammer, Cuche, Paris, Hudec, Rahlves, Neureuther, Sarrazin…), tennis stars, musicians, actors, local legends, unforgettable staff and an army of loyal guests all contributed to the beautiful, organised chaos that built the reputation The Londoner still carries today. A legend passes – a legacy remains. (2000–2016) On June 2nd, 2007, founder Rik Gunnell passed away, leaving behind his wife Edith and daughters Nina and Romy. In the years that followed, The Londoner was family-run: first by Nina, then by Romy and her husband René, before the keys returned to Edith in 2016, a return to the pub’s original heartbeat. Keeping the tradition alive. (2016) From 2016 onward, Edith ensured the soul of The Londoner stayed intact. With dedicated General Managers Tony, followed by David, the pub continued to welcome locals, legends and late-night adventurers. A new chapter — the same spirit. (2019–Today) In late 2019, after 44 years of serving one of the world’s most famous bars, Edith chose to retire. But she had one wish: The Londoner must remain The Lond
